Gary Sinise hollywood actor is well known for the many ways in which he honors and gives back the U.S. military.

The Forrest Gump star established his own organisation – called ‘The Gary Sinise Foundation’ – where he has been able to donate millions of dollars to soldiers, veterans, first responders, and their families through it.

He really is a shining example of someone who works to help those in less fortunate circumstances than himself.

People are now finally able to recgonise his efforts. Although Sinise never looked for praise for his generous acts, it’s now common knowledge he puts others first.

Perhaps it the reason a host of his actor friends banded together to thank him for his work, via a surprise video which features veterans who have benefitted from his foundation …

In celebration of the Feb 12 release of Sinise’s book, “Grateful American”, the actor was surprised by a touching video, which includes messages from such people as Tom Hanks and Ron Howard.

Howard said, “Your commitment, your dedication, you are awesome,” while Tim Allen explained, “You motivate other people.”

Towards the end of the video Tom Hanks can be heard saying “Thanks, Lieutenant Dan!”

Celebrities took the time to sing Sinise’s praises, however, some of the veterans whose lives are improved as a result of the Sinise’s foundation also had some things to say.

One veteran intoned: “As you can see we’re in front of this beautiful house right now. We wouldn’t have had it were it not for your kindness, graciousness and your wonderful gift of giving.”

We must do all we can to extend our hand in times of need to those who willingly sacrifice each day to provide that freedom and security. While we can never do enough to show gratitude to our nation’s defenders, we can always do a little more,” says Gary Sinise on his foundation website.
