Worried man spots odd silver jeep at Walmart for weeks, decides to approach driver

in Uncategorized

Homelessness plagues communities, especially when homelessness affects our veterans who gave their all for our country. Veterans are generally ignored by society. Recently one veteran’s Jeep caught the attention of a shopper in Altoona, Iowa.

Jake Holloway had been shopping at the Walmart and Target stores in Altoona for a few weeks, each time he went, he noticed the same silver Jeep in their parking lots. He decided to take a closer look at the vehicle one day, thats when Jake noticed that the silver Jeep Wrangler had “I served” stickers on the window.

That compelled him to finally have a talk with the driver – but Jack was utterly stunned at what he found inside the jeep.

Iowa resident Jake Holloway posted about his experience on Facebookand wrote that he had noticed a silver Jeep in the parking lots of the Altoona Walmart and Target over the past few weeks.

When Jake saw a sticker in the vehicle’s window, an “I Served” in Iraq decal, he decided he needed to check into this situation further. couldn’t look away anymore and stopped to talk to the veteran, whose name was Nick.

Jack soon learned that Nick had been going through some pretty tough times ever since returning from serving overseas. Nick told Jack that after he got back from Iraq, his wife left him. After 4 tours, all Nick had was his Jeep and his loyal friend – a dog.

With heavy weight in his chest, Nick explained his heartbreaking story to Holloway and said that he had been sleeping in his Jeep for some time. He did had a job with the Department of Transportation, but Nick hadn’t been paid yet.

After hearing this, Jake decided he wanted to help the struggling veteran. Once Jack returned home he posted about the encounter on Facebook, pleading with the community to help.

“Told him I liked his Jeep. He liked my Toyota,” Jake said.

And, I asked him if he was alright. He told me his name was Nick and after he had got back from overseas his wife left him and left him with his Jeep and his dog. He’s got no money and broke as a joke. Told me he just got a job at the DOT but hasn’t been paid yet. Said he had started selling things off the Jeep to have any money at all.

Jake continued:

It broke my heart. If you wanna do something for someone out of pure selflessness, please…,” Jake said, imploring others to help. “If you see him. Out of the kindness of your heart. Do something nice for him or his best friend (the boxer dog). Few bucks. A gift. Some dog food. That’s my request. Makes me sick to see a soldier on the street.

Jack’s post really hit many in their heart and the community responded in a huge way. Apparently, Nick’s tragic situation made the good people of Altoona sick as well.

After a number of hours, people had shown up to give Nick money, gift cards and dog food. One extremely kind person even went down to the Walmart and paid in full for Nick and his dog to stay at a hotel for a week.

Those who spent a long time in the US. Army and did several tours overseas, have been tremendous support for Nick.

2-year-old boy left in vegetative state after being battered by mom’s boyfriend – help us pray for him

in Uncategorized

A 2-year-old boy from Texas was beaten up so severely by his mother’s partner that he’s been left in a vegetative state where he can feel nothing but pain, said the family

Thomas Sullivan, was beaten so severely by his mom’s partner that he’s been reduced to a vegetative state. His family claim that he is now incapable of feeling anything but pain, after being rushed to the intensive care unit of Texas Children’s Hospital Houston in September 2018.

Doctors say the child will endure permanent mental and physical disabilities due to the abuse. The infant suffered severe head trauma, as well as a lacerated liver, multiple fractures over his body, and burns.

Sarah Sullivan, the boy’s aunt, explained how the 2-year-old is now only responsive to pain.

She said: “[Thomas] breathes on his own, and then he stops. He’s not doing well. He’s going to live, but they said we need to prepare for him to be in this state for the rest of his life.”

Thomas’s 3-year-old sister, Amery, also suffered similar abuse and sustained multiple injuries to her stomach as well as fractures to her pelvis and ribs. Sullivan explained that the 3-year-old had been kicked in the stomach and had to undergo kidney surgery to repair her organs

28-year-old Adam Thomas was arrested by police, he had a prior history of burning other young children who were of a similar age to the siblings, though he tried to claim their injuries were caused by a series of unfortunate accidents.

Adam was given two life sentences in February of this year, while the mother of the children admitted to authorities that she’d failed to seek care for her children. She was handed a sentence of 20 years behind bars on March 7.

Thomas remains hospitalized with a round-the-clock nurse, whilst the family is fighting Child Protective Services for custody of Amery. A GoFundMe Page has been set up to help cover the medical bills for both Thomas and Amery.

This is one of the most vile cases of child abuse and neglect we’ve ever seen. Who could hurt an innocent child in such a way, is beyond me and we can only hope those responsible are forced to reflect on what they’ve done for the remainder of their lives.

If you agree they deserve to be punished then please SHARE this post with your friends on Facebook.

The Official Rules for Visiting a Newborn, According to an Experienced Mom & Doula

in Uncategorized

It’s more than exciting when someone gives birth — not just for the parents but for everyone who loves them.Although, as loved ones get caught up in the joy, it’s easy for them to forget that this is also an incredibly difficult time for new parents.

As a mother, grandma, and doula, Tina Madelina of Madelina Birth and Baby completely understand how stressful it can be for new parents to try regulating the outpouring of well-meaning visitors.

She came up with a list of simple rules, written from the perspective of a newborn, to be shared with loved ones to ultimately help the mother out.

Rules for visiting a newborn

“Hi. I am a newborn so naturally everyone in my family is a pro when it comes to handling me,” her viral post starts out. “However, when it comes to visitors, my parents are constantly having to have to play the ‘bad guys.’

To help Mom and Dad out, this new bundle of joy lists cardinal rules everyone should know before stopping by for a visit.

1. No Kissing.
“Do not kiss me, anywhere, at any time, no matter how delicious I look,” she wrote. “In fact, do not put your face anywhere near my face or my hands and make sure you wash your hands before touching me anywhere.”

2. No Touching — and That Includes Your Kids.
If my parents hand me to you in a baby carrier, use it. Do not take me out of the carrier under any circumstance,” she wrote. “My friends and I tend to be sensitive to your clothes, detergent, excessive perfumes/colognes, so just keep me in my carrier and I’ll play nice.”
That also means if you have an enthusiastic little friend for baby to meet, hold off on those adorable photos of them snuggling together. “I’m sure your children in particular are the
healthiest children in the world, but, let me put it this way — it’s not you, it’s me,” she wrote. “I am born a germaphobe and it may take me a couple of months to adjust to this yucky world. And don’t ask mommy and daddy if you can bring your kids anyway — they really don’t enjoy saying no.”

3. Don’t Monopolize the Baby.

Just because you’re thrilled to spend time with the little one and enjoy some baby love doesn’t mean you get to decide how long you hold the child. “If I start crying when I’m with you, please give me back to mommy,” she wrote. “I get you want to soothe me and be a superhero for doing it but I really just want my mommy and daddy.”
Plus, whether a mom is breastfeeding or just wants to stick to her own diaper-changing routine, this is her baby and she shouldn’t have to worry about hurting your feelings while trying to care for her newborn.

4. Know What You Signed Up For.

If you stop by during the newborn stage, come with the full understanding of what a newborn visit will entail. “I get hungry, sleepy, poopy, and fussy around the clock. If you want to visit me, plan to come for less than an hour so mommy and daddy can get back to giving me their undivided attention instead of hosting you!” she wrote. “Also, don’t plan on eating here (my mom barely eats, she doesn’t have time to feed you) or staying over unless you want to listen to my high pitched audition for the best opera singer in town — practice time is always in the middle of the night!
This also means that if you ask to hold the baby, don’t be surprised by what could come out of his or her mouth. “It’s just spit up, relax yourself. Listen, you wanted to hold me, burp me, swaddle me, soothe me (see above), so now deal with it,” she wrote. “Like I said, this is what I do — AROUND THE CLOCK!”
5. Lower Your Expectations.
Listen up everybody, this is the time to give Mom a break — especially when it comes to your feelings. “Please don’t expect my mommy to call you, text or post a million photos on FB,” she wrote. “She’s taking good care of me and would rather stare at my sweet face than her phone.”

6. Keep Your Parenting Style Out of It.

There’s nothing greater than insightful advice from an experienced parent, but with one slight caveat: ONLY WHEN IT’S ASKED FOR.
We all give our children all that we have, heart and soul … including OUR preferred parent style. Your baby … your rules,” she added. “Have courage … enjoy and love your babies your way. You’re a good mom!”

Many love these rules and are tagging their partners and loved ones as fair warning.

Nicely put. People should not be offended. Parents are just trying to keep their little one safe,” one user commented. “ALL OF THIS!!!!” another added.
But there are still some who hate it and think these rules are going too over-the-top.

There’s nothing more beautiful than a new baby in the family but hand the child around, let it be kissed and hugged and feel the love and attention of others,” another user wrote. “Also it’s good for parents to let someone else hold/ feed/ change baby/ soothe baby whilst they chat to friends/ rest/ spend time together. And for a baby to recognize sounds of other voices, even children’s sounds, and them adoring a little one is lovely.

Regardless of the rules just remember what Mom says goes.

Many users replied with things that they are adding to their list, including that they’re waiting a certain amount of time before allowing visitors. But no matter what rules are in place, they need to be respected.

Watch as over 200 Amish men lift barn with their bare hands and move it to new location on a farm

in Uncategorized

Look at any colony of ants you’ll see proof to the claim that there’s real strength in numbers.Or, perhaps, you could look at a particular group of Amish people living in the U.S.The Amish are a religious group known for their resistance to modern technology and their remarkable ability to work together in order to achieve a goal.

Now, everyone knows the Amish people are strong and resourceful, having kept with their traditions for many centuries, holding at bay the encroaching influence of technology.

It’s the latter point that’s significant here, because in the main the Amish don’t like to accept the help of technology when they can avoid it.That even extends to when it comes to moving a barn. The Amish have alway sused farming, and have a strong ethos when it comes to helping each other out.

So, when a barn needed moving on Joseph Hochstetler’s Farm, Ohio, 200 Amish men turned up in horse-drawn carriages to help him lift. The men went ahead to pick up and carry the barn over 150 feet, even turning it before finally settling it down .Surprisingly the entire process only took a few minutes.

Of course, this just goes to show what people can do when they put their minds to it and work together. Needless to say no single man would have ever been able to do this on his own, but through the power of communication and friendship, a number of men were able to work together to achieve something great.

There’s Finally a Giant Mattress for Families That Want to Co-Sleep Comfortably

in Uncategorized

One of the biggest factors that keeps families from trying out co-sleeping is the shortage of space. Realistically, fitting two or three little kids in bed alongside two adults can be a bad experience when all you’ve got is a stingy, small mattress.

Thankfully, one company has gone to the next level by creating a giant mattresses that are unbelievably perfect for co-sleeping families.

  • The Ace Collection is a supersized line of high-quality mattresses and bedding.

Currently theres only sizes available in its collection, those sizes are nothing to laugh at. Especially not if you consider the fact that you may have to knock out a wall or two in your bedroom to make them fit.
More from CafeMom: This Mom Doesn’t Care What You Think About Her Co-Sleeping for 9 Years

  • The mattresses are available in sizes that the company refers to as Ace, Ace Player, and Ace Family Size.
  • Ace and Ace Play are incredibly similar. The company claims that Ace is significantly larger than your average king-sized mattress. While Ace boasts a dimension of 108″ W x 80″ L, Ace Player falls at 80″ W x 108″ L. Essentially, Ace Player is perfect for those who want their beds to be longer rather than wider.
  • Still, even with those amazing sizes, it’s definitely Ace Family that steals the show.By its name, it sounds like the 144″ W x 80″ L mattress was made with co-sleeping families in mind.
  • Co-sleeping is still a pretty controversial topic in the parenting world, but it doesn’t need to be.
  • More from CafeMom: I’ve Been Co-Sleeping With My Kids for 7 Years & I’m Not Going to Stop
  • While many people view it as inherently dangerous for babies, Dr. Sears says that co-sleeping can be both safe and beneficial for kids if children under 6 months are always kept on their backs with light or no bedding, the bed is kept away from things like blind cords and curtains, and you make sure the baby cannot fall between the mattress and a nearby wall (putting the mattress on the floor can help with this problem).
  • While these mattresses certainly don’t come cheap — they range from $2,000 to $4,000 depending on the size and firmness of the mattress you want — it’s certainly not as daunting as spending every night attempting to wiggle out from underneath a giant mass of kid limbs.

Teen Hero Uses PVC Pipes To Make Hundreds Of Beds For Shelter Dogs Sleeping On Hard Floors

in Uncategorized

Chance Call, 17, has had a love for animals since he saw those heart touching TV ads as a child. You know, those ads that wanted viewers to call in and help save a stray dog or cat while heartbreaking images of betrayed animals flash across the screen.

In 2015 Chance became involved with his town’s Eagle Scout program. For his most recent project with the organisation, he wanted to do something to help animals.Chance wanted to start by collecting blankets to donate to the local animal shelter… but that idea developed into something even bigger.

The American Society says that in order for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, more than 6 million animals enter shelters nationwide every year. While these shelters try to do everything they can to make the animals comfortable, they might not have enough time, money, or resources to go around.

That means some animals end up having to sleep on the shelter’s cold, hard floors.Chance did some research and learned about simple yet comfortable dog beds that can be made using PVC pipes.

He contacted hundreds of donors, vendors, and volunteers in an effort to raise enough funds to build 150 dog beds from scratch. The teen’s original goal was to collect $2,500, but he went beyond that goal and collected $3,500.

With the help of his fellow Eagle Scouts, Chance poured his heart and soul into 120 hours of work, all for an incredible cause.

School Nurse Begs Parents To Donate Feminine Hygiene Products For Students Who Can’t Afford Them

in Uncategorized

I was so embarrassed the first time i got my period. I hated having to get up during classes to go to the toilet; I thought everyone would know what I was going to do.

Thankfully, my friends were very supportive and reminded me that having a period was nothing to be embarrassed about .Now, obviously, I’m not embarrassed about my period — I even write articles about it! I’ve tried menstrual cups, reusable pads,  a menstrual massage, and pretty much everything else in between.

Luckily, although I was embarrassed about my period, I was always able to afford feminine hygiene products. Some girls aren’t as fortunate.A school nurse recently been helping a student that made her turn to the internet to ask for help.

She shared the story on Reddit, and people everywhere shared their thoughts about the school nurse’s idea.

She wrote:

I’m a school nurse in a state that doesn’t provide feminine hygiene products to its students. Everyday I have girls come in needing products.

It’s true that some are just unprepared but SO many of them have told me they feel guilty asking their parents for $5 for tampons.

tampon blue

We have programs for free lunch and we even have a program where we send home food for the weekend. But nothing to supply these girls with tampons. I asked a girl today what she does at home and she said she uses toilet paper.

tampon period

I use my own money to buy these girls pads and tampons. Every school nurse I know does.

So when you’re sending school supplies drop off a box of tampons and see one grateful nurse!!

pantyliner

Edit – I wanted to share the conversation I had with the particular student mentioned above.

Her – Hey, um, that time of the month again. Do you have anything?”Me – “I do, but I’m almost out. You forgot again?”

Her – “No, but I don’t have any at home.”

coins pile

Me – “Ok. But you really need to get some. If you’ll bring me $5 I’ll pick them up for you.”

(I know this girl pretty well by now. She lives with her dad and has a difficult relationship with him.)

Her – “My dad used quarters to pay for gas this morning. I’m not asking him for $5.”

Me – “Ok sweetheart. I’ll get you a couple boxes for Home. But what do you usually do at home when you start your period?”

Her – “I use toilet paper.”

toilet paper

These girls aren’t too embarrassed or lazy or forgetful. They’re poor and they can’t help it.

The majority of them can afford it. Out of 400 menstruating girls maybe 20 have a hard time getting access to pads or tampons. That’s still 20 too many.

A huge thank you to everyone who goes out and donates!!!”

reddit comment

People were very understanding of the nurse’s idea, and so many of them had never even thought this might be an issue.

comment reddit

Many parents admitted they never noticed how common it was for girls to not be able to afford feminine hygiene products, so they vowed to bring some to their kids’ schools soon.

Parents Share Warning After Their Son Was Admitted Into Surgery Because Of Popcorn

in Uncategorized

As a parent you worry about your toddlers might falling and hurting themselves, or being bullied in school. However sometimes things that weren’t even stuff you thought about can occur.

One mother of three, Nicole Goddard, was enjoying a movie night and popcorn with her family one evening. A fairly normal night for them, this particular day would change for the Goddard family, particularly one of her sons, Nash.

While the three-year-old chewed his popcorn, he started to choke. For a brief period it was a pretty scary moment for mom Nicole. Once he was able to swallow and catch his breath, he seemed to be okay.

He seemed completely fine and continued to watch the movie,” Goddard shared in a Facebook post which went viral “The only thing we observed was a cough he developed after the episode.”

Apparently the following day Nash seemed fine, however he was still coughing a bit. Although she was slightly concerned she assumed he was developing a small cold.

The next day however brought even more agony. “As the evening came I noticed Nash felt warm and he was super fussy,” Goddard wrote. “He had a fever, so I gave him Motrin and put him to bed. A very long night with him and then his breathing looked a little labored to me and he just didn’t feel good.”

His mother finally decided to bring him to see a pediatrician, who performed a chest x-ray. The doctor seemed to notice something wrong, as he advised Nash would require a bronchoscopy later that day.

It seems Nash never actually swallowed that piece of popcorn he choked on—he aspirated it into his lungs. “The body recognized it as a foreign object and put puss pockets around it,” Goddard said. “All the inflammation caused him to develop pneumonia in his left lung.”

The doctor was able to remove six whole pieces of popcorn from his lungs,
during the bronchoscopy “There was so much inflammation so the doctor wasn’t 100 he got it all so scheduled him to be admitted and repeat the procedure in 2 days,” Goddard said. “It was a an up and down roller coaster but we were in the best care.”

Eventually, the doctor removed the last piece and Nash was able to recover. Thankfully the young was going to be allright!

If I wouldn’t have trusted my instinct and brought him in, the outcome wouldn’t have been good,” Goddard says. “We’re so thankful our little man came out ok. All of this over popcorn which is eaten on a regular basis in our home.”

Doctors do warn that children under 5-years-old should not eat popcorn. Since Nash being her third child, she didn’t see it as a danger as she gave her two other children plenty of popcorn. His mother now wants to warn other parents of the potential dangers.

Help us spread awareness of the dangers and SHARE this post with your friends on Facebook

House was burning down when mom finds family pit bull dragging 7-month-old baby by her diaper

in Uncategorized

This is a story that proves certain breeds do not deserve the pessimistic stigma attached to them.

A mother from California, Latana Chai was home with her 7-month-old baby, Masailah, when the unimaginable happened.

On June 3, 2018, Sasha, her 8-month-old dog was barking loudly and banging at the door in their backyard just before midnight.

Latana instantly knew something was wrong as this just wasn’t like her normal behaviour with her frantic barks.

Running downstairs, she opened the back door to check on Sasha.

Once she looked up all she saw was black smoke and flames pouring out of her neighbour’s house.

The fire quickly spread from her neighbour’s home right over to her own unit.

Running back inside the house to get baby Masailah — only to discover Sasha had already beaten her to it.

In her mouth, she was holding the infant by the diaper and dragged her off the bed!

Latana explains “[Sasha] saved everybody, because if it wasn’t for her, I don’t think that any of us in this complex would have known anything.”

Take a look at the video below to see why Sasha is being called a hero.

Grieving Mom Warns Of Bottle Propping After Her Losing Her 4-Month Old Son

in Uncategorized

Bottle propping is, without doubt, a deep-dark parenting confession. This stealthy method of feeding involves propping up a bottle so that you can provide nourishment for baby, hands-free. While feeding time is a time of bonding, sometimes parents just crave a few minutes of hands-free time.

For those who are unfamiliar with parenthood, bottle propping is a sneaky method of propping up a bottle so you can feed the baby essentially hands-free. However a young mother from the UK is urging parents to re-evaluate using this so called parenting “hack”.

Chloe Masters lost her four-month-old son when he choked on the milk dripping from his propped bottle after.

Chloe had been suffering from some intense back pain and so she decided to drop off her son overnight with his godmother, Claire. Little did she realise that was the last time she’d see him.

Back in 2015, Chloe lost her son Alex. However it took three years for the coroner to confirm that he indeed died from bottle propping. The story was covered by BBC who quizzed Claire about the baby’s death.

Initially she claimed that she had fallen asleep while giving Alex his bottle on the couch. However the truth comes out eventually.

Claire claims she had placed Alex in his car seat and fed him from a bottle of milk which was propped up by a blanket. Apparently when she woke up half an hour later Alex’s face was covered by the blanket. He was lifeless.

He was then brought to Lincoln County Hospital in England, where a postmortem revealed he had inhaled milk into his lungs.

Chloe explains, “Never, ever, ever, bottle prop under any circumstances. You could be put in this situation with your own child. I did it and thought it would never cause anything like this, and I was supervising. But people can lose concentration.”

If a baby happens to fall asleep before finishing its bottle, choking can occur since instead of swallowing the liquid. This results in the baby inhaling it instead, which causes it to go down the wrong passage.

Babies don’t have the strength or skills to feed themselves, and while bottle propping might seem like an easy feeding method, it’s not worth the risk. It’s a short cut that could end badly and haunt you for your remaining days.

Take a look at the video below on bottle feeding tips:
