In Detroit over 123 missing children were safely located as part of an initiative to find victims of sex trafficking.
The agency said Operation MISafeKid recovered 123 missing children throughout Wayne County in a sweep to identify and recover missing children and locate victims of human trafficking.
Authorities interviewed each of the children that were recovered where investigators indicate at least three of them showed signs of having been sexually victimized.
The State Police – whose numbers bear a slight discrepancy to those of the U.S. Marshals – confirmed that of the 107 children recovered under ‘Operation MISafeKid’, three were identified as being possible sex trafficking cases.
The report said one homeless teenage boy hadn’t eaten in three days, so authorities transported him back to their command post for food and turned him over to Child Protective Services for aftercare.
Teams began investigating cases and looking through the files of children reported missing in preparation for the sting. Participating officers began to visiting locations where said children had been last seen.
US Marshall Service said, “The message to the missing children and their families that we wish to convey is that we will never stop looking for you.”
Information on the missing children is still light, with officials confirming it is an ongoing investigation.
