When you are young, you behave like an adult, because you think that if you are, then you can do as you please. Staying up late, eating candy or drive a car.

However once you actually do grow up, you realize how simple life was when you were young. You had no obligations or responsibilities. Unfortunately, these scenarios don’t always apply to every child.

One day, South Carolina police received a phone call from a 13-year-old boy, they could never have imagined what they were about to discover next.

Cameron Simmons

Cameron Simmons 13 years old made a call to the Sumter Police Department in South Carolina. Officer Gaetano Acerra responded by visiting distressed Cameron at his house.

The officer discovered during their one-on-one meeting, the boy wanted to run away from home. Cameron tells the officer that his mother was yelling at him for playing his older brother’s video games.

But soon enough Officer Acerra uncovered that the real issue was much deeper than that. Inside the house, Cameron led the officer into his bedroom.

The room was completely empty and his clothes were thrown in a trash bag, the young boy didn’t even have a bed.

After having to make an unexpected move from Texas to South Carolina to care for a sick relative hard times fell upon his mother.

Touched beyond belief, officer Acerra did something unthinkable and went totally beyond the call of duty. Officer Acerra was busy organising a major surprise Cameron, his brother and his mom had no idea. He had no idea that would lead to an unbelievable chain of kindness.

The officer says: “I didn’t do this for publicity, or, you know, to get people to notice me, I did it because I could, and it was the right thing to do; I think people should do things like this.”
